Who says school can’t be fun? A few ambitious students proposed a year-end experiment to Biology teacher Holly Hughes, and she approved.

Five students awoke early Wednesday morning, May 24, and hit a couple local fishing holes before school. They brought their live-catches to school and  placed them in two water-filled truck beds.

Mrs. Hughes used the opportunity to teach both biology standards and hands-on skills related to fishing.

“A lot of these students have never held fishing poles,””

— Holly Hughes, Biology teacher

she said, as girls squealed about a loose cricket crawling up a male student’s leg.

Hughes and other teachers love the chance to offer student-led experiments like these and look forward to many more in the 2017-18 school year!
